Only In...

Tennessee!
First I must preface this post by admitting that I am a city girl through and through! And I don't mind admitting this!

Do you see a Statue of Billy Graham not far from the "entertainment" part of downtown!
"Parking Area" signs on the freeway that are just that...an area to park. Might I add, no restroom or facilities of any kind...only a parking area?
Piggly Wiggly grocery stores! Might I add this was one of two stores we passed in 250 miles! We had to stop...it was hilarious!
Directions are given not by street names, but rather by landmarks. "Go two miles down the road, just past the mile marker you will see a broken down mail box, turn right there!" NO JOKE! (Note: this is quite difficult when you don't live there and every mailbox you drive by looks like this one and 2 miles down the road may mean 1 mile, 1 1/2 miles, etc!)
And lots of people have signs like this one in there front yard?!
All I can say is...only in Tennessee!
PS...Other highlights that I didn't manage to get photos of included...but weren't limited to...
  1. Walking into our guest home to an old dude sound asleep on the sofa and NACAR buzzing on the TV. We weren't sure if he was dead or alive.
  2. Rob playing Rook with Grannie and Aunt B till all hours of the night.
  3. Rob unclogging the comode.
  4. Rob searching for said plunger in the basement that was leaking grey water...cause black water would smell real bad he was told.
  5. Debbie helping Grannie off with her hose under the table at the reception at the country club.
  6. Paul (see old dude #1) busting a move on the dance floor. (Note to Eric...I believe he would have gotten his freakin' bracelet removed.)
  7. Paul (see old dude #1) praying for our departure and thanking God he lived in TN...God's redneck country!

Well Deb ~ all I can say is I lived in Iowa for a short time and it seems to really resemble Tennesse. You should have seen the reaction he got when he told people in Iowa that he was a Unix administator - well.... you get the picture. If it didn't have some thing to do with a combine they didnt get it. We usually got directions by looking for a certain silo. :)
